AUCTION ALERT! Southlake, TX – July 30

Open floor plans are becoming very popular these days. Millennials and families with young children are looking for floorplans that include one huge open space from the kitchen to the living room, and even the dining room in some cases! There are pros and cons to this style, in my opinion. With this floor plan, you’ll be able to see everything that’s going on at all times. Moms want to be able to be in the kitchen cooking, while watching the kids play. Another positive aspect to having an open floor plan is that you can create TONS of seating space – which is what I’m here to tell you about. Open floor plans are perfect for parties, get-togethers, and conversational seating.

I love a living room that promotes conversation and community, and this weekend’s auction has so many pieces that will do just that! When you have a large space, create small and cozy seating arrangements that will allow your guests to be comfortable but yet still promote conversation. We all know that in today’s world, we are so easily distracted. So, why not create a space where people will feel welcome, kick their feet up, and enjoy each other’s company! Blog 5 DallasJPG

This weekend’s auction is in Southlake, TX has more comfy sitting chairs than you could ever imagine!! It’s the perfect auction for you if you are looking to add seating to your home. I was so inspired by all of these different chairs with different colors, textures and styles that I wanted to share what to pair all of these chairs with in your own home. I’ve paired each one with ottomans, fabrics, pillows, and fun accents so you can see types of looks you can create with all of the different chairs at this auction!

Remember, ALL of these chairs and sofas are found at this weekend’s auction! Simply by adding a fun color palette and quirky accent pieces, you can have this look too! Find out more information about this auction here.

AUCTION ALERT! Southlake, TX, July 24

You won’t want to miss out on the auction this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Southlake, TX.  This house has so many great pieces that you can mix into your home. Many of the pieces are neutral, so it’s will be very easy to incorporate into whatever style home that you have!

I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous master bedroom at this auction. This master has all of the things you need to create a calm and elegant oasis. The bedroom is my absolute favorite room in the home because of the way that you can customize it to fit your personality. blog 5

I’m always drawn to an upholstered headboard because it can act as the focal point of the room. A headboard is also a great way to save space in a bedroom so that you still have room for an accent chair or club chair in a small or medium room. For larger rooms, just add a bench or a small love-seat to the foot of your bed to add the final touch to your space. For this bedroom, I’ve put together three options for you and your master bedroom. Whether it’s small, medium, or large! And remember, all of the furniture found in this design board (except for the lamp) will be up for grabs at this auction!

With a small master bedroom, use this blue bamboo chair as an accent piece and pair it any of the fabric samples that I’ve chosen in the bottom left-hand corner. With a medium-sized bedroom, use this single club chair and side table as an accent. Finally, with a large bedroom, place this sofa under a window, or at the foot of your bed to add seating and personalize the space.

Make sure to choose calming colors for your bedroom and try to steer clear of bright, or contrasting colors. I’ve chosen a light blue, gold, and white color scheme for this bedroom. I’m in LOVE with the gold wallpaper that’s places beside the headboard. You can use this wallpaper in the whole room, or just on an accent wall.

Another way to personalize your space is by adding a monogram to simple, white bedding like I’ve done here with this all-white bed.

Below is more inspiration on headboards just like the one found at this auction. See how the elegant shape of this headboard creates a focal point to these rooms and all of the colors are light and calming? Now YOU can have this look too! Don’t miss this auction! Find out more details here. Blog 5

AUCTION ALERT! Parker, CO – July 16!

Attention all Coloradans! This Colorado auction has some serious finds. This home has been outfitted with all things coastal and nautical. Okay, I know what you’re thinking… coastal in Colorado!? Yes. But I can promise that you’ll find the perfect pieces for your home to mix and match into your overall look at this auction. I’ve found several pieces at this auction that are perfect for any mountain house, rustic cabin, or log home. Colorado Home Final Copy

One trend I’m seeing with this home is the use of mixed materials. At first glance, you may not notice it. But you’ll see many different pieces of furniture throughout this home that have an eclectic feel. Some are dark, some are light. Some are modern, some are traditional. Mountain homes tend to be dark and heavy – and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! But this auction gives you the opportunity to soften things up a bit by keeping your home rustic, but adding some lighter pieces.

First up is this warm and cozy living room. I’ve paired together several items from this auction including: a white sofa, brown leather chair, wooden rustic lamp (which is a must have!), wood and white coffee table, wood and metal side table, blue iron chairs and a few rustic accessories. Oh, and did I mention the round rope and metal mirror that I highlighted in my last blog?? I told you this house had some serious finds!
I absolutely love this look for a mountain home. By using a colorful oriental rug like this one, you’ll be able to pull together many different elements and colors. I’ve pulled this white sofa from the auction and added a tan faux cowhide pillow as well as two velvet peachy-orange pillows to add texture. Then I paired this sofa with this leather chair and a fun IKAT print pillow. This coffee table adds a rustic feel to the room but keeps things light with the white-washed finish.

If you look closely, there are some great accent pieces here at this auction. I found a great wooden and iron round coffee table piece as well as these cute blue iron chairs that are fun to have around a table, or for the kids!  Last but not least, my most favorite find – the rustic wooden lamp! I can’t get enough of this lamp. I don’t know about you, but I want to move into this living room right now!

Hurry hurry to this auction this Saturday, July 16th in Denver, CO! You don’t want to miss out on this one. Click here for more information on this auction!

Design Tip: Accent Mirrors For Your Vanity

One design tip that I’ve been excited to share with you has to do with a room that often gets overlooked in the home when it comes to decor. That’s right, you guessed it! The Bathroom. We really don’t spend that much time in our bathrooms, but when you think about it, a bathroom is a key component to the home. What’s one of the main things you check on when buying or selling a home? The condition and overall look of  the bathroom.

My favorite design tip for your bathroom is to add a modern flare and use a statement mirror over your sink instead of the age-old frameless square or rectangular mirrors, or (dare I say) medicine cabinets. Yikes! By adding an accent mirror over your sink, you’ll be able to show your own personal style and modernize the space. Remember to keep it simple, but have fun with the shape, design, texture, and size!

Here are some of my favorite mirrors for bathrooms. You can use any of these in a single powder room, or the master bathroom with double vanity. Just remember to pick a style that you love – you’ll be looking back at yourself through it everyday!

This Levico Mirror from Restoration Hardware  just might be the winner in my book. This mirror can stand on its own and will fit into most any style home. It’s made out of reclaimed solid oak and has curves in all the right places. Did I mention that it’s on sale right now? Paint your powder room in this Van Deusen Blue by Benjamin Moore and this mirror will really pop!

My next choice is this Paloma Round Mirror by Pottery Barn, which is also on sale! This mirror is perfect for a double vanity. Remember to hang the braided rope a little higher than normal so the mirror will be at eye-level. The length of these mirrors will give the appearance of higher ceilings, too. Sounds like a win-win to me! Keep it simple and paint your walls in White Dove by Benjamin Moore. Let the mirrors do all of the talking.

Lastly, I’ve chosen this gorgeous Ablenay Mirror by Uttermost. This one is a show-stopper. It’s simple, yet classic. Traditional, yet modern. It’s forged metal frame has been brushed with antique gold. I can’t promise that this mirror will make you look good, but I CAN promise that this mirror will make your bathroom look good! I’m pairing this mirror with White Dove by Benjamin Moore as well.

Don’t forget that that model homes are one of the best places to find mirrors. Most model homes are decorated with decor that won’t reveal much about the who might be living there. Model homes will have decor pieces such as paintings, mirrors, canvases, etc. I’ve found some of the best mirrors in model homes!

Until next time!

AUCTION ALERT! Austin, TX: Saturday, June 25

This auction is located in Austin, TX this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Don’t miss out! The furnishings found in this home are well on their way to creating the perfect farmhouse. Farmhouse style is one of my favorites so I’m excited to share these pairings with you.EBF_6088And4more

Rattan and bamboo are BACK! This dining room chair is a great accent piece for any table or living space. Rattan/bamboo furniture is extremely versatile and can be used indoors, outdoors, and in almost any style home. DSCN1349

One of my favorite things to do with a chair like this is to mix and match. Find some great upholstered chairs, or a farmhouse bench and match them with two rattan chairs at the ends of the table. This model home has paired these rattan chairs with a farmhouse bench and a farmhouse table. Now, let me show you how to warm this room up. Pair this dining table, rattan dining chairs, and farmhouse bench with an oversized natural fiber area rug, floral curtain panels, and a fresh coat of Simply White by Benjamin Moore on the walls, and you’ve got a warm and bright dining room! 35201074362cd892a9e2d144b39e1ee3

Painting the walls a color like Simply White allows the table and chairs to stand out on their own. Let the bold color of the table become the staple piece in the room. I chose a peacock-inspired floral print for the drapes that will also warm up this space, but not be the focal point of the room. Remember that your walls are now white, so these curtain colors will pop, but not overwhelm the room. Don’t forget to hang your curtains high and wide! Below is one of my favorite illustrations on how to hang your drapes.

Now, to add a pop of color to the room – simply place a oversized 18 x 18 pillow in the two chairs at the head of the table in a natural blue/grey tone. Like this fabric below. You don’t want to over-do it, but this will add just enough to make it stand out! You can also use a neck roll, or bolster pillow if you want something a bit smaller.

I also grabbed these farmhouse butterfly prints from the master bedroom to pair with our new dining room. This artwork has the perfect amount of color to make those pillows you’ve added to the two head chairs pop.

This house is full of so many great pieces to achieve that farmhouse look you’ve been going for. Take a look at all of the pictures under this listing for even more inspiration!
